Hey friends,

I love to write articles.
For a couple of days, I was wondering to build an application using which I can directly write articles from voice.

I was researching whether this kind of application is available in the market or not. I came to Google Docs. Google Docs supports speech-to-text functionality.

Why build a web app?

  • I wanna try out this opportunity to practice building in public. #buildinpublic
  • This exercise will add one more project to my portfolio.
  • Documenting my journey to build an application will help other developers like me who want to build in public. I would be a helpful resource to them.

Rules for building the app:

Since I have a full-time job, I can only work on weekends or late nights. So here is some rule which I will follow

  • Work for only 90 mins every weekday on the project
  • Work for 6 hours per weekend on the project.
  • Document your journey of building the application along the way.
  • Code would be open source

What to build?

I am going to build a web app and a mobile app for it.

That’s it.

In one line — I would say that I am going to build speech to text application using that, users can write in the notion app using their voice.

That’s all for the first post.

I will keep you posted on the upcoming journey.
